For those who are unfamiliar, an airdrop is an event where a blockchain project freely distributes its coins or tokens to the public. The terms and conditions for airdrops can vary quite a lot; some have been outright scams, while others have helped platforms legitimize an entire market or philanthropic effort.
The company I co-founded, RAIRtech, has been advancing charity efforts using NFTs (non-fungible tokens). NFTs are a way to secure a digital asset with a unique serial number that establishes provenance (ownership) of the buyer or the recipient.
Our recent Cryptogreyman campaign minted an NFT for every single person on the planet as a social experiment, with a significant portion of the proceeds going to housing for Greek refugees affected by war.
This concept is proliferating with the delivery of airdrops. So much so that entire crypto communities are rallying behind these efforts.
To be clear, Sadowski could be referring to "the defense of citizens" or "non-violent protections of citizens" when he says NFTS will "fund defense while generating community".
Nevertheless, it's a radical idea: Using decentralized networks and their financing instrumentation, within an airdrop delivery, to get relief directly into the hands of the afflicted - at any time necessary.
We'll see where this all goes, but my bets are on the Web3 infrastructure we're all building to make this a greater reality in today's chaotic, war-torn world.
